2017 -2018
Mr.M.Veera Shanthi Ram and G.S.Rahul of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering have an essence of developing standardized methods to grade the coconut. They developed a prototype model of a product “Coconut Qualifier” which is supported by NewGen IEDC and NSTEDB, DST, Govt. of India with funding of 2.5 Lakhs.
The student's products / ideas : buyers-sellers meet organized by MSME and Trade Associations in Tamilnadu.
One of the products developed by our student's team, has won the first prize in Falling Walls Lab India 2018 contest. Further the student has been invited to present his idea at Falling Walls Global Conference 2018 at Berlin, Germany during November 2018.
Veera Shanthi Ram from Department of Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, National Engineering College, Kovilpatti, was adjudged the winner of the contest. He provided the technological solution for quality check of coconuts for the food industry especially coconut based products. He will compete with Falling Walls Lab winners from across the world at the global Lab finale that takes place in Berlin on 8 November 2018, and also gets a ticket to the prestigious Falling Walls Conference on 9 November where leaders from science, industry and policy-making meet. The trip to Berlin is financed by the DWIH - German House for Research and Innovation New Delhi. This initiative is supported by the Federal Foreign Office, Germany.

Our College students Mr.M.Krithik Roson (Roll.no: 1813052, 2nd year EEE) and Mr.Giftson.S (Roll.no: 1711028, 3rd year ECE) are acting as our college Campus Ambassadors for the E-Cell IIT Bombay. In this connection, they conducted and various entrepreneurship promotional activities in our college campus recommended by the E-Cell IIT Bombay throughout this academic year (2019-20). Due to their vibrant participation and achievements in those activities, they have been selected as a finalist in National Entrepreneurship Challenge (NEC) to be organized by E-Cell IIT Bombay on February 1st and 2nd During the occasion “E-Summit 2020”, the Flagship event of E-Cell IIT Bombay. Date: 1st & 2nd February 2020.
Student's gone out of the campus to meet academicians, industrialists, financial experts, relevant Government officials and successful entrepreneurs for development and commercialization and to participate in various events.
Students obtained new insights into their projects. A group of students participated in “E-summit 20”, the Flagship event of E-Cell IIT Bombay on 1st & 2nd February 2020. The students (individual and team) participated in many events, and they have learned to explore the opportunities to commercialize their ideas/products

Students of the project “Biometric based water dispenser” funded by NEC-NewGen IEDC (2018-19 batch) participated in “PALS 2019-20 innoWAH! Innovation Challenge Competition” at IIT Madras research park, Chennai on 26th February 2020. The students exhibited the developed product and got suggestions and advices from the expert visitors to commercialize their product.
